Committees

Committees are an important part of the Federation's work...

Executive Council members chair the various Federation Committees which deal with many ongoing issues:

  • Anti-Racism/Human Rights Committee
  • Committee on Political Action
  • Education Committee
  • Health Care Committee
  • Occupational Health and Safety/Workers' Compensation Committee
  • Women's Committee
  • Pension's Committee

In addition, special committees can be established to look at particular issues as they arise.

Full-time union staff and union members work on these Committees to keep on top of developments in their respective areas and assist the Federation in developing policies and programs, schools and conferences.

Committee conferences and workshops offer affiliates one to two-day sessions which focus on specific issues such as workplace literacy, human rights, anti-racism, how to do newsletters, women's rights, and workplace safety.

The call for names for Committees usually goes out in June. New Committees are put together after Convention.
